a quick update + a week of instagram photos #2

Hello girls (and guys, if any of you read this!)
Just a quick update from my last post - I'll be taking a break from the blog for a couple of weeks at least. I moved back to uni yesterday so I'm going to give myself a couple of weeks to settle back in and find a new routine again. The house is gorgeous and makes halls from last year feel like some kind of slum! It's my birthday on Wednesday (20 - so old!) so I might have a sneaky post in the week to share some of the goodies, but for now here's my last week in the form of Instagram photos!

oo1 - first mince pies of the year // oo2 - more mince pies... // oo3 - someone in BHS was clearly not a fan of Harry Styles // oo4 - kitten in a basket! // oo5 - far too many belts! // oo6 - and far too many pens... // oo7 - and far too much one direction stationery... // oo8 - hot chocolate! // oo9 - everything packed for uni! // o10 - new ring from @ilovekukee (twitter) // o11 - lush birthday cake the girls had made me for when I got back to uni! // o12 - the lovely picture Rosie left for me on my door... // o13 - first lot of pictures up! // o14 - and the second... // o15 - all done! // o16 - colour coded all the new keys!

Sorry for slacking! A week in Instagram photos!

Sorry I've not got round to posting much this last week - I've finally hit the 'less than a week until i go back to uni' stage and have had other stuff to do, and i'll probably carry on being a little negligent in the next couple of weeks whilst I move back to Leicester and settle back in.

To make up for my lack of blogging, I'm going to start doing posts with my Instagram photos from the week just to keep you all up to date.

oo1- officially in winter mode // oo2 - ready for Sarah's last night in Essex // oo3 - present from my brother for looking after him while the 'rents were away // oo4 - not being able to resist dessert! // oo5 - one uni project all ready for binding // oo6 - little Olly sleeping upside down // oo7 - starting the second uni project... // oo8 - re-preparing myself for student life with the ultimate student lunch // oo9 - trying out double denim! // o10 - off to town! // o11 - hearts in the bath water! // o12 - surprise trip to woburn safari park from james!

Review // Benefit Ooh La Lift

'This legendary under-eye brightening boost is like an instant eyelift! Contains raspberry extracts and light-reflecting pigments to instantly perk up tired eyes. This delicate pink balm can be applied on bare skin or over makeup.'

Carrying on The Big 10 in this post with Ooh La Lift; saying it will instantly brighten the area around your eyes to give them a boost!
I tend to have quite a dark are around my eyes, so something that promises to brighten these areas is something that I'm willing to try. Prior to Ooh La Lift, I was using High Beam around my eye area and this was brightening the area, but adding a bit of a sheen to the area, something I didn't notice until I started using this product. I much prefer this, mainly due to it's thicker consistency and more opaque look - even though it has light-catching pigments, it's much less shimmery than High Beam.
This is definitely a product that I would consider re-buying. I can't stand having dull looking areas on my face that really stand out and this has got rid of this problem for me.

Does anyone have any other products that they use for brightening dark areas?

Review // Benefit Stay Don't Stray

'This dual-action power primer works 360° degrees around the eyes to make concealers AND eyeshadows STAY PUT. Concealers don't crease, eyeshadows stay vibrant and true...you'll wonder how you ever lived without it! Comes in a neutral nude shade that is universally flattering and a custom airless pump that is sooo easy to use - just a dab'll do ya! Sodium Hyaluronate hydrates and fills in fine lines. Vitamins C & E help fight signs of aging.'

If I'm honest, I wasn't sure if a concealer primer would do much for me as I already use a face primer, but if something is going to give my concealer a little more staying power then I'll give it a go. Other than using concealer to cover up blemishes, I religiously apply it around my eyes to even up the appearance around that area, but occasionally find that it wares off during the day, or goes a bit cakey and crackly. But Stay Don't Stray has stopped any of these problems! It makes more of an even base for concealer application and really makes it last longer than normal. The fact I use it over Benefit primer and then use Benefit concealer over the top possibly helps these as all three products have been developed to work together.

This is another product I'd consider repurchasing along with the Ooh La Lift as together they've really helped eradicate my problem area.

OOTD // Peplum Pretty

Top // Prize from omgfashion.co.uk
Skirt // New Look
Ring // Primark
Bracelet // Spanish Store
Shoes // Primark

Another online brand today, and another one you need to be following on twitter (@omg_fashion) AND facebook (www.facebook.com/www.omgfashion.co.uk). OMGfashion will often post on Facebook saying that the first one to tweet the a certain thing will win a prize - and this is exactly how I won this top! In fact, I've won another top in another competition from them since this, and it's currently in the post!
I can't say I was ever much of a fan of the peplum trend, but I've fallen in love with it since owning this top! I've styled it up in a smart, office-like fashion here seeing as it's back to school/college/uni season, but I personally love it over a pair of leather leggings! It's such an easy piece to dress up or down, and anything which is this versatile is always welcome in my wardrobe!
